Pope Francis says he never set out to be Pope

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/the-pope/10106798/Pope-Francis-says-he-never-set-out-to-be-Pope.html

Summary: In Italy(Rome), the new pope, Pope Francis, says that he doesn't have very enthusiastic words for some children at a local Jesuit school.
"I don't want to be Pope."
These words shocked many, including me. He also said that he will stay in Rome. And not go to the Papal Apartment where most popes go for the summer. I mean, the month with the least average rainfall in Rome in June. It is also the month with the highest average temperature at 32 degrees Celsius. This is a very interesting topic and is a definite top news story.

Wow. That shocked me too. But still, didn't the cardinals vote on it? <==== That's the reason why.

The Silk Road

Many things were traded on this route,

not guns, not ammo, or heck, even fruit.

They traded silk for ivory and many other things,

for cotton and horses and other household things.

So if you happen to stumble across people trading,

make sure you stop and give something

to get some in return.

I like the rhyming here. Most of the trade was for luxary goods, not household items. They had to travel too far to carry everyday things. Mr. Chester

William I (or originally named as William the Conquer) was the first Norman King of England, reigning from 1066 until his death in 1087. Descended from Viking raiders, he had been Duke of Normandy since 1035 under the title of William II. After a long struggle to establish his power, by 1060 his hold on Normandy was secure, and he launched the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. The rest of his life was marked by struggles to consolidate his hold over England and his continental lands and by difficulties with his eldest son. He is an influential person because he conquered England (hence the name William the Conqueror).William was the son of the unmarried Robert I, Duke of Normandy by his mistress Herlava.

Williams struggle for Normandy was tough. This is his family tree of his struggles. He was born in 1028.

He is remembered for bringing French to England, and the combination of French and Old English became Middle English -- the first time the English language was really beginning to have the vocabulary it has today. Lastly, he was important for bringing feudalism to England. So in conclusion, William the Conqueror is one of the most important people in history, or at least the one that was left. :p
